Summary

London Museum will be the talk of the town when it opens in Smithfield in 2026.

The permanent exhibitions will offer a fresh and radical perspective on the history of the capital. The new museum will open to the public seven days a week, regularly remaining open late into the night and eventually welcoming 160,000 schoolchildren annually. Meanwhile, our Museum in Docklands will continue to thrive and develop drawing in some 400,000 visitors annually.

Key to the success of the new museum will be the extraordinary public programmes created in partnership with Londoners, the strategic partnerships that we develop at local and national levels and ground-breaking learning programmes that we deliver across all of our platforms. The Assistant Director (Programmes, Partnerships & Learning) will hold the brief for this amazing portfolio of work.

The role will have strategic responsibility for shaping the content and overseeing delivery of a world class public programme and a unique Learning & Engagement offer across the museum campus at Smithfield and Docklands delivered in partnerships with London communities, educators & the creative industries.

This role would suit someone who feels passionately that culture and heritage enrich and change people’s lives and makes society a better place for all.
