Summary

To be a professional and clinical role model for others To have greater responsibilities and extended roles in comparison to a Healthcare Assitant. To lead IN THE Dental department in conjuction with the Nurse-in-charge. To support the senior team to achieve a high standard of evidence based care, procedures and treatment specific to the clinical need, working within the Trust competency framework appropriate to role and scope of practice, including the use of medical devices. To demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of infection control, including monthly hand hygiene audits, adhering to the highest standards when performing aseptic technique and complying with Trust Infection Control Policies at all times. To ensure compliance with all Trust and department policies and guidelines, e.g. (but not limited to) consent, chaperoning, WHO checklist, COSHH, Information Governance. To ensure safe, appropriate and timely monitoring, recovary and discharge from department following treatment and interventional procedures. To work closely with the multi-disciplinary team ensuring excellent and effective communication is maintained. To participate in the provision of information to patients and their carers regarding disease, treatments, health advice, screening and services available for their needs. To ensure patient records are maintained accurately in line with local and national standards, digital strategy, Information Governance and General Data Protection Regulations. To respond effectively to patient and service devlopments, escalating any issues to the Nurse-in-Charge in a timely and appropriate manner. Carry out all administrative and other duties that are required, working effectively to provide safe, evidence-based and cost-effective care. To be aware of the Trust complaint and incidents procedure, ensuring incidents are reported and escalated in a timely manner utilising the Trust reporting system appropriately and working with the senior team to ensure learning occurs. To attend Outpatient departmental meetings and contribute to educational half-days, sharing learning and keeping up-to-date with the wider nursing agenda and Trust initiatives. To assist with implementation of new initiatives and policies, utilizing reflection and clinical supervision as part of your professional development. Contribute to achieving individual team and department objectives and quality targets, to maintain an excellent patient experience and service delivery. To undertake learning to ensure you are up-to-date with mandatory training and appraisals. This job description is an indication of the type and range of tasks that are expected of the postholder, and other duties may be required, in line with the role and the banding.
