Summary
The Director of Improvement will: Lead on system improvement, driving operational, clinical and financial excellence Directly manage the cancer, elective, diagnostic and sustainability programme teams. Provide leadership for regional subject matter experts, and support clinical leaders Ensure the regional team employs the latest improvement sciences tools and metohodologies Deputise for the Exec Director Co-ordinate the local delivery of national improvement programmes Be a member of the regional On Call rota Key Accountabilities Leading system improvement for the NHS across London, working with the national team, the region and system partners Manage core regional programme teams, ensuring the team has the right mix of experience, skills and capability Working with the digital team to maximise data and digital in improvement Be a senior member of the Improvement, Transformation and Partnerships leadership team, deputising for Exec Director Be accountable for a substantial budget for staff and programmes Ensure effective communication with relevant national and regional teams Lead on the effective use of analysis and other products to support improvement System Improvement Work with the Director of Performance in London to maintain an in-depth understanding of performance and efficiency and system challenges Responsible for overseeing a structured approach to identifying improvement opportunities across systems and co-ordinating deployment of resources Shape the integrated improvement support offers that meet differing needs across the region, bringing specialist expertise together with delivery capability Ensure that trusts and systems, as well as the broader regional team, have access to good practice improvement science methodologies Work with the performance and finance teams to ensure effective reporting against regional efficiency targets and improvement programmes Service Improvement Leadership and oversight of the core regional programmes: o Elective improvement - working closely with the getting it right first time (GIRFT) team to support clinically-led change and improvement o Cancer improvement - including oversight and joint working with the four London Cancer Alliances o Diagnostics improvement - including the delivery of the community diagnostic centre (CDCs) and driving service improvement in pathology o Sustainability - including delivering the Green Plan for London and developing climate resilience in partnership with the GLA Coordinate national improvement programmes and capabilities e,g. GIRFT, improvement science, cancer improvement, IST and workforce productivity Support other regional functions to ensure that quality and efficiency improvement plans are implemented at pace in trusts and systems. Data and digital Work with the digital team and with clinical leaders to help embed and scale new digital technologies as part of care pathways Maximise the use of data and new digital technologies in improving care Work with the Digital Team ensure that senior leaders are digitally aware, championing digital transformation initiatives in line with national strategy Help co-ordination of digital maturity development, ensuring organisations and senior leaders practice strong digital and cyber governance
