We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to join our Flooding and Water Management Team. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

What does the role involve?

You will join our Flood and Water Management team of engineers, hydraulic modellers and hydrologists, leading on the preparation of engineering studies and calculations and outline to detailed civil engineering designs; overseeing the production of design specifications, drawings and schedules.

With the guidance of and in liaison with the discipline leads You will be responsible for delivering and overseeing projects for local authorities, water companies and major infrastructure clients providing a range of flood risk management related services. You will work in close partnership with our clients and contractors, building strong relationships that will enhance the company’s reputation and help secure further work.

You will be expected to represent the company in project technical meetings, supervise the work of less experienced colleagues and provide technical and professional guidance to aid their development. This role will present you with a fantastic opportunity to further develop your technical and management skills whilst supporting our continued team growth.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

A Civil Engineering Degree.
Incorporated or Chartered Civil Engineer status registered with the ICE or be working towards.
A desire to share knowledge/experience and support/mentor the development of others. Ideally acting as an ICE delegated or supervising engineer.
Experience of preparing and delivery of both project and technical presentations.
Commercial awareness and a proven ability working as a project manager under the NEC.
At least five years relevant industry experience undertaking civil engineering design as well as the supervision of others.
A sound understanding of hydraulics and proven application in the development of solutions.
Experience of working as part of an engineering consultancy within the water industry, including multi-disciplinary schemes.
Knowledge of:
Flood investigation
Culvert and drainage investigation, analysis and design
Scour assessment and design of mitigation measures
River engineering
Pluvial and fluvial flood risk management design (feasibility to detailed design)
Canals and navigation on watercourses
Reservoirs
Experience in the development and leadership of outline and detailed design of solutions for any of the project types listed above.
Knowledge and experience of the stages of design throughout the project life cycle.
Strong interpersonal/team working skills with a good working relationship with all levels of an organisation, clients and contractors.
Experience of project managing design schemes in this environment including management of stakeholders and clients.
Experience in the preparation of reports, contract documents, technical specifications and drawings or the supervision of others
Understanding of designer’s responsibilities under CDM regulations.
Experience in undertaking Quality Assurance technical reviews in field(s) of expertise
Experience in site supervision / management of contractors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in Identifying prospective opportunities and leading on the preparation of proposals
Experience in providing project, commercial and financial management for projects
