When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We are seeking an experienced Head of Programme Engineering to join the Technical Directorate (TD) at Sizewell C, driving excellence in design, engineering, and project delivery. You will oversee the replication and adjustment of designs, ensuring seamless integration and configuration across the Conventional Island (CI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) Programme.

The Role
As Head of Programme Engineering, you will lead the design and delivery of Sizewell C’s CI/BOP programme, driving replication, innovation, and quality. This is a pivotal leadership role with multiple opportunities available across various programmes and disciplines within the Nuclear Islands (NI) scope.
Conventional Island (CI) refers to the part of a power plant that directly generates electricity, including systems like the boiler, turbine, generator, and condenser. Balance of Plant (BOP) encompasses the supporting infrastructure and systems that ensure the plant operates efficiently, such as electrical, cooling, fuel handling, and control systems, but are not directly involved in power generation.
In this role, you will:
Manage design and engineering for Sizewell C’s replicated and site-specific designs.
Lead design replication strategy implementation.
Mobilise engineering resources for design delivery.
Address technical issues, risks, and opportunities.
Ensure Intelligent Customer function is effectively managed.
Act as Principal Designer under CDM regulations.
Oversee design acceptance and ensure quality.
Contribute to project strategy and senior leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:
- A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong understanding of engineering processes, technical coordination, and quality assurance.
- Excellent skills in influencing, facilitating, and building effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Nuclear sector experience is an advantage.

Sizewell C Limited (Sizewell C) is nuclear site licensed company whose business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Sizewell C was formerly under the majority ownership of the EDF Group but is currently majority owned by HM Government and operates as an independent company. EDF remains a key shareholder in Sizewell C and the business therefore maintains close links to EDF as a part of its ‘nuclear family’.
As a Sizewell C employee, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email, or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.
- Sizewell C Limited will be moving offices from 90 Whitfield Street to 25 Copthall Avenue. 25 Copthall Avenue is a modern building just a short walk from Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations. Sizewell C will occupy the whole of the 4th floor. We are targeting a move in February 2025.This role will be contractually based at 25 Copthall Avenue. However, depending on the date of the move there may be a period that you will be required to work temporarily from our existing office at 90 Whitfield Street
