This is an exciting opportunity to join our enthusiastic and friendly team within the department of Geriatric Medicine at UHL. We are looking to build on our current team of 22 consultants, with a part time consultant appointment working within orthogeriatrics and surgical liaison - improving the care for older people living with frailty within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR).

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR).Consultant Geriatricians also provide input into the 8 community hospitals within LLR, and the frailty virtual ward, both of which support step up and step down patients who need care closer to home.

The Older persons wards (including orthogeriatrics) are based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant will work alongside medical and MDT colleagues on the ortho-geriatric wards at LRI - supported by specialty training registrars and resident doctors. This new role will develop the expansion of surgical liaison work within the Trust - initially working with older inpatients admitted under Urology with an opportunity to develop the peri operative pathways for frail older people within UHL.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR). It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for consultants.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
