Summary


To provide an efficient and effective reception service to Bridges Clinic - Private Patients at Bedford Hospital, consultants and designated medical staff. Be first point of contact for the patient, consultants and clinical teams.
1. Ensure all Private Patients are correctly recorded on the Trust Information Management systems e.g. (PIMs, TomCat, ICE, SOLUS and OPRA) to comply with Trust administration and billing arrangements and audit specifications.
2. To ensure all data and documentation in relation to Private Patients is filed in accordance with Trust Information Governance Policy.
3. To provide an efficient and effective clinical administration service to the department, consultants and designated medical staff. Be first point of contact for the patient, consultants and clinical teams.

4. To attend to patients, colleagues and referrers to the service, both in person and by email or on the telephone, promptly and courteously at all times and be a worthy front-line representative of the high quality service.
1. Be fully conversant with Insurance Companies regarding pre-authorisation of treatment, continuation of cover and price agreements and ensure that these are applied.
2. Maintain a check list of all documents and information associated with the various stages of the patient’s care pathway in the hospital and ensures that they are up to date and accurate.
3. Ensure self-paying patients are identified and appropriate action is taken with regards to funding their hospital admission prior to admission.

1. Responsible for ensuring that the Trust’s payment procedures are followed for all patients. This includes arranging for all patients to sign the agreement to pay form either on admission or prior to admission and the collection of a fee from all self-payers prior to admission (where possible)
2. On discharge, proactively source the appropriate information from all sources (wards, theatres, laboratories, x-ray etc.) in order to complete the invoice for submission to the private medical insurance company or to the individualin line with standardised pricing schedules, as formulated by the Private Patient Manager.
3. Receive payments through Bridges Clinic for payment by self funding patients or other fees owed to the Trust for Private Patient Activity.
