Summary

Talbot House Children's Charity are looking to recruit a Kitchen Manager / Cook to join our busy school kitchen. This role will manage the day to day running of the kitchen and management of the kitchen team include cooking, food preparation, food service, kitchen and dining area hygiene, and any other duties associated with food service operations.

The kitchen is responsible for food production for approximately 65 pupils and 55 staff on a daily basis, this can include breakfast, break and lunch. You will be expected to comply with the principles of Healthy Schools, COSHH, and Health and Safety in Food. Knowledge of the Good School Food Guide will be an advantage.

​The successful applicant must have at least 2 years' previous experience of working as a cook within a school kitchen and a minimum of 5 years experience, working in the Kitchen Manager role, and managing a school kitchen team. To apply you must have proficient working knowledge, and recent training, in allergens and dietary requirements, COSHH and hold a Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate. You will expect high standards of health and hygiene, be able to implement successful processes, procedures and quality control checking systems to monitor and maintain high quality healthy food.

The Kitchen Manager will set menus that cater for all dietary and allergen requirements and training staff to understand the importance of food allergies. Managing the order process, ensuring orders are accurate, and within budget, using a variety of ordering methods. Overall responsibility to ensure sufficient food is available for the number of covers required each day, and that every meal is served accurately and on time.

Hours of work are: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 2:30pm, 35 hours per week (includes a 30 minutes unpaid lunch break), working during school term time only.

Salary: £29,750 per annum (salary includes term time working hours, plus 5.6 weeks holidays, which are taken during the school holiday periods only, FTE £35,000).
