What's involved with this role:

Temporary Service Charge Officer - Housing

Reference no: CLA 0009 9276 / 1

Pay Rate: £18.93 per hour PAYE

37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 3 months

City: BOREHAMWOOD

Basic DBS disclosure required

Currently almost exclusively WFH with roughly 2-4 days a month in the office for big team meetings or general office days as and when required. Would expect candidates to be spending their first few weeks in the office for training.

Previous experience of service charges and/or housing services in general does go a long way but with that there is also the need for someone who is happy with a fair amount of customer service as you will have a fairly regular rota for tasks involving phones, inbox and verification of charges.

The use of Microsoft Dynamics platform would be a desirable experience but not essential as training can and will be provided.

Proficient numeracy skills with an eye for detail are a necessity given you will frequently review residents' charges and are expected to be able to identify potential errors, for example a larger than average increase or a large amount of invoices assigned to a small block.

Within the team, the primary focus is answering resident enquiries relating to service charge estimates and actuals. These questions can vary quite heavily but will be mostly focused around the most recent set of estimates or actuals provided.

Key responsibilities:

Requests for further information or descriptions for specific services
Disputes based on the price of services provided
Correcting residents charges when errors are found
Request for documentation relating to service charges (Section 21 & 22 requests, invoices, Section 20 consultation information etc)
Answering internal enquiries from teams within via the team inbox
Verifying resident charges for other teams who work on Housing Benefit and customer payments
Writing out to residents with service charge information if instructed to do so by another team

Key requirements:

Knowledge of the application of service charges in the social housing sector.
Understanding of Landlord and Tenant legislation and best practice, with more detailed knowledge of aspects that relate to service charges (desirable)
Proven experience of successful delivery of service charges in a customer focussed business, securing high levels of customer satisfaction.
Experienced user of ERP and CRM
Excellent communication skills when dealing with customer enquiries, both written and verbally
Good numeracy skills
Excellent communication skills, able to adapt approaches and techniques dependent on the audience.
Proven excel skills, handling, manipulating and checking large volumes of data.
Ability to achieve strenuous performance targets
Ability to be flexible where business needs are required.
