Hours Part Time – 30 Hours per week (Tuesday – Friday 9AM - 5PM)
Starting Salary £23,470 per annum, rising to £23,652 after 6 month probation (salary will be pro rata for part time hours)
Location: REST Kings Lynn - PE30 1AY
*Due to the nature of the role a driver licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role, mileage is paid at 45p per mile for cars after your home to work base mileage is deducted.
The Service
The Mind Recovery Centre offers a 1:1 space in a calm and safe environment in line with Psychologically Informed Environment principles. Supporting the delivery of the Norfolk and Waveney Mind trained Managing Emotions Personality Disorder Service Team. To provide an informal, non-medical recovery focused emotional support for people with a diagnosis of, or traits of, borderline personality disorder (BPD) or emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD).
The service will be tailored to meet the individuals need, this could include a placement on a one day a week, weekly course which incorporates psycho-educational workshops or 1:1 session (6-8 sessions) or a combination of both. To provide bookable 1:1 support across our 5 Norfolk and Waveney Mind REST Hubs.
To provide an additional offer of 12-month programme which incorporates psycho-educational workshops through the Waves Programme, as well as social sessions to help them explore their needs with others in a safe environment.
The Role
As a Personality Disorder Enhanced Peer Support Worker you will use your experience of living with a personality disorder or traits of and your personal recovery journey in order to build relationships with service users which are mutual, reciprocal and authentic.
Peer Support Workers will empower service users to learn the self-management tools they will need to move into their own recovery and live fulfilling lives. They will help people living with a personality disorder improve their quality of life, by providing a managing emotions recovery programme in a safe, supportive and empowering environment.
What We Are Looking For
Relevant lived experience is as follows:
- Personal lived experience and/or experience working with people with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or traits of a Personality Disorder.
- Ability to communicate clearly with a range of people over sensitive and/or complex issues.
- Depth of understanding about how to explain your recovery to keep yourself well to support others.
