CAD Draughtsman
About Us:
Spec-al Facades Ltd are a commercial glazing specialist with a product portfolio that includes aluminium windows, curtain walling and door systems. Operating across the UK we work with main contractors, architects and other clients to design, manufacture and install glazing systems.
Spec-al facades Ltd are seeking a Senior Design Technician / Auto CAD Draughtsman to produce out all aspects of design from drawing to construction for commercial projects. This is an opportunity to join a successful company and as we continue to grow we are looking for a talented AutoCAD Draughtsman to join our design team, based at our offices in Burntwood.
Role Overview:
As an AutoCAD Draughtsman, you will be responsible for producing detailed design drawings for aluminium windows, curtain walling, doors, and entrance screens. You will work closely with architects, attend both internal and external design meetings, and integrate with various roles within our team, including project managers, site managers, and bid managers. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of façade systems, current building regulations, and CWCT standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Produce detailed design drawings using AutoCAD for aluminium glazing systems, including curtain walling, windows, doors, and entrances.
• Attend design meetings with architects, contractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and integration of design objectives.
• Liaise with architects and clients to provide technical advice and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate within a BIM (Building Information Modelling) environment, including managing design data, sharing documents, coordinating project elements, and ensuring compliance with BIM protocols.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant building regulations and CWCT standards to ensure all designs comply with safety and performance standards.
• Work with various aluminium glazing systems such as Technal, Senior Architectural Systems, Schueco, Sapa, Kawneer and Reynaers.
BIM Responsibilities:
• Manage digital project information, including 3D models and data, within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
• Ensure project deliverables meet BIM Level 2 requirements, facilitating smooth data exchange with clients and stakeholders.
• Coordinate design information across project teams, maintaining consistency and accuracy in project documentation.
• Contribute to clash detection and resolution within the BIM model, providing solutions to improve project efficiency and reduce errors.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the architectural glazing industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit is highly desirable.
• Strong familiarity with aluminium glazing systems such as Technal, Senior Architectural Systems, Schueco, Sapa, Kawneer and Reynaers.
• Comprehensive understanding of façade systems, building regulations, and CWCT standards.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise effectively with clients and architects.
