Summary
We are recruiting a qualified teacher/tutor to lead our new homework club in our brand-new building! Working in a team of three (one tutor and two assistants), this is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to support local young people in furthering their education. The homework program will take the form of 4, 2-hour sessions a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and ideally Saturday). Weekday sessions are 4:30pm- 6:30pm, Saturday sessions are 11am –1pm although these hours may be flexible for the right candidate. This role is term time only and will be £25 an hour. This role is funded by the Walcot Foundation and is a great way to get involved in a local charity while practicing educational skills.
Responsibilities:
• Create a safe and inclusive environment where children feel comfortable, respected,
and supported.
• Supervise and monitor children's behaviour, always ensuring their safety.
• Foster positive social interactions among children, promoting teamwork, respect,
and cooperation.
• Assist children with homework assignments and provide guidance and support as
needed.
• Encourage and facilitate the development of age-appropriate skills, such as
communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Administer basic first aid when necessary and promptly report any accidents or
incidents to centre staff.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing updates on their child's participation and progress.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Ability to be flexible and show initiative.
Qualifications:
• Fully qualified teacher (with a DBS certificate) who has been teaching for at least five years with references. KS1 AND KS2 knowledge is essential – KS3 & KS4 experience is a bonus.
• Extensive knowledge of primary and secondary school curriculum in all subject areas.
• Passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children,
parents, and staff members.
• Ability to establish and maintain a positive and nurturing environment for children.
• Extensive knowledge of child safety guidelines and procedures.
• Up to date CPR and First Aid certification.
