Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your experience and skills in working with children and young people. There are extensive in house CPD opportunities including regular supervision, a thorough team induction, opportunities for assessment and intervention sessions with senior colleagues and in-service training opportunities in conjunction with children’s physiotherapy along with opportunities for external training.
The department works proactively with schools and MDT colleagues to meet children’s needs efficiently and effectively, this includes running workshops for parents and school staff. This post would have some time based in schools with the support of senior colleagues.
The service is integrated with Social Care OT and all staff will be able to gain experience of treatment, equipment prescription and adaptation recommendation. This includes safe environment assessments for children in homes. We will provide training and support to develop your skills in this area.
We are looking for an proactive Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and friendly Occupational Therapy team based at the Hackney Ark. The Ark is a purpose built Child Development Centre and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Working hours: 37.5 per week with the opportunity for flexible working

You will hold a mixed caseload of children including those with physical disabilities, co-ordination disorders, autism and developmental delay. Visits to home, school and other community settings will be required to support children to meet their occupational performance goals.
• To provide an occupational therapy assessment and treatment service to children referred to the service
• To practice in a range of clinical areas including Hackney Ark, schools, early years settings, children's homes and other community settings.
• Communicate effectively with children and their families, formal and informal carers, referrers and staff from health, social care and voluntary sector agencies.
