Summary
This post is part of the South East Regional Delivery Unit (RDU) that is hosted by the Chief Operating Officer Directorate. The purpose of the COO Directorate is to lead on performance and improvement for the South East Region including:
• monitoring performance against annual operating plans and constitutional standards
• delivering bespoke improvement support to systems via the virtual improvement hub to optimise their overall performance and reduce unwarranted clinical variation
• leading the co-ordination of regional operational planning and assurance.
The SE Regional Delivery Unit is responsible for:
• The professionalisation, development and implementation of a consistent methodology for programme management and delivery across the region.
• Provide expert programme resource for the region’s highly complex, cross cutting transformation and change programmes. Provide consultancy type programme support that is responsive, rapid, flexible and targeted.
• Alongside the Strategy and Transformation Directorate, ensure regional programmes are aligned to delivering the regional business plan.
• Identify and propose solutions to managing risks associated with programme delivery in region and systems ensuring they are appropriately identified and controls and/or mitigation is in place, escalating to the Programme SRO / SERET as appropriate.
• Responsible for oversight and successful delivery of complex, multifaceted programmes, through South East programme management framework.
• Highly skilled in working with very senior leaders to deliver large scale, cross system cost improvement schemes and transformational change that involves working and bringing together a wide range of health and care teams across primary, secondary and community care settings.
• Due to the requirement to deliver work across an entire region, you will need to have exceptional capability to work flexibly, at pace and manage multiple workstreams.
• Apply creativity and innovative techniques to the running of the Programme, including learning from non-NHS environments. Support the development of the skills and abilities of the programme team and ensure links with other teams, to encourage knowledge sharing and learning about transformation, innovation and improvement.
• Ensure realisation of benefits for customers through planning and designing and that project outputs meet programme requirements.
• Maintain overall integrity and coherence of programme and governance framework to support each project. Plan programme assurance activities.
• Work with project leads and business as usual to ensure dependencies are actively managed, act as an arbiter and enforcer and resolve issues between the various elements of the programme.
