We are looking to recruit a TA2 Teaching Assistant to be based at LifeBridge ASEND, which is our post-19 provision. This is a temporary post in the first instance, until 31st August 2025. LifeBridge ASEND is part of the Rumworth School family and it is located on a separate site which is close to Bolton town centre. LifeBridge ASEND is a registered charity, and a not for profit organisation, and it operates as a specialist post-19 institution, providing education, enrichment and vocational opportunities to young adults between the ages of 19 and 25 with special educational needs and disabilities.

Our priority is to support young adults with SEND to prepare themselves for adulthood, work towards becoming more independent and ultimately gain employment.

We are looking for someone who will ideally have experience of working with young people as part of a successful team. You will be able to support our young adults effectively in the classroom and also during their off-site visits and their sporting & recreational activities with LifeBridge Plus. You may also be asked to drive one of our vehicles for off-site activities if you are able to do so.

Our learners all have an EHCP as they have a range of SEND which may include: Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, Complex Needs, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Hearing and Visual Impairment, Physical Disability and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. During their time with us, they access appropriate external accreditation, together with other activities and opportunities that support them on their “Pathway to Employment” and their “Pathway to Independence”.

Please note that we do expect applicants to be able to demonstrate that they have good personal skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT, and these may be assessed during the interview process. As this post requires GCSE grade C or above in both maths and English (or equivalent qualifications), we would also need you to provide proof of those qualifications at interview or prior to appointment.

If you have the expertise, energy and dedication to join our committed staff team, then we look forward to receiving your completed application.

Visits to LifeBridge:

Visits are strongly recommended prior to application, as this is helpful when tailoring a letter of application in order to evidence how you best meet the selection criteria. Please do not send a generic letter or a CV with your application.

Please contact our LifeBridge Office on 01204 391038 in order to arrange a visit.

How to apply:

Please download and complete the application form and outline your suitability for this post based at LifeBridge ASEND in your letter of application, within a maximum of two sides of A4 paper.

This post is also advertised on the “Current Vacancies” tab on our Rumworth School website.

All applications should please be returned electronically to both Ms Jane Haslam, Principal of LifeBridge ASEND jhaslam@rumworth.bolton.sch.uk and also to Mrs Marsha Andrews, the Headteacher’s PA: mandrews@rumworth.bolton.sch.uk
