HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT

One Hatfield Hospital, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their friendly and dynamic Diagnostic & Imaging team.

Reporting to the Imaging Manager, the successful Healthcare Assistant will assist the radiographers and Consultant Radiologists with Radiological Procedures in line with national guidelines, hospital policies and best practice standards, as well as help with the administrative running of the Radiology department.

HOURS: 28 per week, Monday to Saturday.

HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT

Main responsibilities & duties of the role:

o Assist patients throughout their time within the Imaging department and preparing patients prior to their imaging
o Assisting the Radiographers in maintaining an efficient daily work list, workflow of patients
o Assist Radiologists in carrying out radiological examinations, prepare the examination room at the beginning of each list, ensuring linen is clean and the room is tidy and fit for purpose.
o Ensure all documentation is present and correct prior to the list beginning. Use Patient Administration Systems to construct the daily work list.
o Working closely with the appointments team to ensure all sessions are used optimally.
o Keep patients informed before, during and after examination, including how and where to get the results from the examination
o Maintain effective communication with all disciplines of Radiology staff
o Help promote and maintain a caring, supportive environment focused on meeting the needs of the patient/relatives/carer, working collaboratively with other departments to achieve this
o Look after the physical comfort of patients
o Listen and talk to patients, helping them to feel supported and safe
o Assist with keeping the department clean and tidy, for example cleaning of equipment, adhering to infection prevention and control policy and hospital procedures at all times
o Keep supplies and equipment in order, assisting in the maintenance of stock levels
o Maintain contemporaneous patient records including patient pathways and the relevant IT reporting systems are up-to-date and accurate ensuring countersigned by a trained nurse.
o Chaperone when required

QUALIFICATIONS

o Minimum G.C.S.E. education or equivalent


EXPERIENCE

o Ability to learn and develop Some health care experience in a hospital environment


SKILLS

o Caring, patient and customer focused Basic computer skills
o Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills


DESIRABLES

o Experience in the private sector Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment or within the service industry
o Enthusiasm for cross functional working within different departments
