Summary
Responsible for line managing a team of sisters, using effective communication strategies and techniques to promote involvement, effective decision making and a common sense of purpose. Provide strong, visible leadership to whom staff, parents, families and carers can turn for assistance, advice and support. Lead and support the sisters with the day-to-day management of the department, enabling them to ensure that the fundamentals of care are correctly and actively in place, instigating remedial actions to ensure that high standards of care are delivered. Guide and support the Sisters ensuring appropriate sickness performance management processes are in place to meet care group and trust targets. Monitor the nursing establishment ensuring skill mix is appropriate to current clinical demands and case mix and assist in identifying and implementing appropriate recruitment and retention initiatives.
