The introduction and strengthening of the role of Legacy Mentors is one of NHS England Chief Nursing Officer’s High Impact Retention Changes to support those in late career to extend their career whilst supporting those in their early career to retain them.

We are seeking to recruit a band 6 registered neonatal nurse for a two year fixed term/ secondment to introduce the role of the legacy mentor. The role will support the journey of new registrants in the neonatal unit at CUH with a focus on experience and knowledge sharing. The legacy mentor role will support students and preceptors with training needs and create a link with practice development.



The post holder will be an experienced neonatal nurse able to coach and provide pastoral support to newly qualified nurses in a level 3 NICU, demonstrating empathy and patience, be passionate about the profession, supporting the nurses in the learning environment.

This role will be key in supporting colleagues to stay and stay well. The legacy mentor will need to build relationships within the team and demonstrate collaborative working.

A welcome subsidy of £1000 is available to all Band 5 and Band 6 Nurses, Midwives, ODPs and Radiographers and Band 5 Orthoptists taking up substantive employment with the Trust.
