Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage the Branch. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an accounting practice completing the preparation of financial statements, maintaining financial records, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles.
Job Summary
The Branch Accountant will work under a Senior Accountant's supervision. They will be responsible for the preparation of Limited Company/Sole trader accounts, Individual Self-Assessments through the preparation of financial records, and assuring information is up-to-date and accurate while meeting deadlines. Advising clients accordingly to ensure this is achieved. Managing the team in the brank and the workloads. You will be committed to the success of the branch.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare client's accounting and review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance. Including Company/sole trader/partnership accounts, corporation tax returns, submitting to HMRC and Companies House within deadlines
VAT Returns, CIS Returns
Maintain and update accounting records and files.
Enter accounting-related information into the appropriate database.
Develop and maintain professional rapport with clients. Communicate with clients on financial issues.
Meet with clients to discuss confidential accounting issues.
Conduct month-end and year-end closures and tax reports.
Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
Liaising with HMRC/Companies House and other service providers
Monitoring of email inboxes
Manage a small team
Attending and participating in regular staff meetings
Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
High attention to detail and accuracy; proactive, deadline-driven, and able to work independently.
Advanced computer skills in MS Office suite and various bookkeeping software
Working knowledge of various accounting practice management software.
Undertaking training as and when required
Education & Experience
2+ years Practice Accounting experience
