Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident Senior Science Technician to join an established technician team within a highly successful and supportive Science department.This is a key role where you will be expected to assist students’ learning by managing practical lessons that enhance students’ experience of science; providing guidance to teaching colleagues; supporting other Science Technicians and supporting the health and safety of the department.The successful candidate will lead and manage a small team of dedicated Technicians to support teachers in the Science department with the preparation of teaching materials and setting up demonstration experiments. Prior experience in laboratory work is desirable and an interest or background in Science and an eagerness to learn are key. Excellent planning, organisation and time management skills are required in order to carry out the key responsibilities of this role which include:Line management and support of a team of specialist techniciansThe operation and maintenance of our well-stocked and equipped preparation roomsTimely and effective preparation and delivery of substances, equipment and resources for Science lessonsControlling stock and overseeing ordering for the departmentProviding support as needed during lessonsThe successful candidate will have:Excellent communication/interpersonal skillsA high standard of literacy and numeracyThe ability to lead and motivate a small teamThe ability to work under pressureThe ability to work on own initiativeWe are a welcoming, caring and supportive working environment and high priority is given to the wellbeing of our staff and students.
