£24,150 plus £6200 London allowance

HMP Thameside is a privately run prison estate located in South-East London. The prison is a remand establishment operated by Serco Ltd.

We have an opening for a Stores Support Officer working primarily in the Stores & Procurement department.

The Stores department is responsible for the purchasing and distribution of essential supplies and services for the smooth running and operation of the prison. This is a key function which facilitate the day-to-day activities and running of the prison. A role which enables and serves the needs of both staff and prisoners.

The role is both administrative and physical in nature.

The physical aspect of the role involves manual handling
- required to lift/move heavy items, boxes can weigh between 20kg-30kg, and the individual must be comfortable lifting to that amount.

Key Accountabilities


- You will be required to keep accurate records of items issued-out and stock levels,ensuring that correct processes are adhered to.
- Raise Purchase Order (PO) for suppliers. Placing requisition orders on the Guided Buying and SAP databases.
- Check items against delivery note and Goods Receipt (GRN) goods on system.
- Handling telephone enquiries from Suppliers and providing advice to staff and customers.
- Enquiries can involve anything from quotes prices, delivery dates from suppliers to emergency uniforms from staffs.
- Manning the Stores door during opening hours serving customers i.e., staff and third-party agencies. Checking requisition forms for management approval signature and issuing items to staff.
- Organising and distribution of staff uniforms.
- Stock replenishment



What you need to do the role?


- Experience in an administrative role
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally engage face to face with the customer.
- Good keyboarding skills, ideally knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment · Inventory Control
- Physically able to do manual handling work

This role is subject to a Security Clearance
