Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and busiest paediatric surgical units in the country as part of a new, four person specialist doctor rota. Each specialist doctor will assist the department in providing both emergency and elective services within RMCH and the wider region. This will include elements of both supervised and independent practice. Specialist doctors be linked with one of the subspecialty teams (Lower GI, Oncology and Upper GI/Thoracic) who will provide further mentorship.
The Department of Paediatric Surgery is the specialist children’s surgery centre in North West England including Neonatal, Oncological, Thoracic, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and specialist day-case surgery, and the surgery of intestinal failure and short bowel; supra-regional service supporting exstrophy, hyperinsulinaemia of the New-born, Metabolic disorders.

The main purpose of this role will be to support the department to provide both a high quality emergency and elective service.
Duties will include both supervised and independent clinical activity on the wards, theatre and outpatient clinics.
Independent practice would include areas such as: hot clinics, general surgery of childhood, haematology lists and vascular access
Participate in the teaching and mentoring of resident doctors, contributing to the professional development of the department.
Engage in continuous professional development, revalidation and keep up-to-date of the latest developments in paediatric surgery.
