EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input and clinical leadership to support the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team (East) and CMHT team, based at Rochford Hospital.
The team provides appropriate alternative to hospital admission for working age and older adults with severe mental illness (e.g. Schizophrenia, manic depressive disorders, severe depressive disorder) with an acute psychiatric crisis of such severity that, without the involvement of a crisis resolution home treatment team, hospitalisation would be necessary. The team operates 7 days a week service from 08.00 – 20.00 and provides on call service for all patients on the caseloads.
The post holder will have shared responsibility for the clinical care of patients and will be expected to work closely with the consultant, GPs, Primary care practitioners team manager to ensure the provision of an effective responsive.
The post-holder will also be expected to work independently and accountably providing clinical leadership to the team, through good multi-professional working and liaising with a range of professional groups including nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists and doctorsin delivering services; providing a 7 day a week, 24 hours a day service for 365 days a year.
You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.
Rochford is a 35 minute train ride from central London. The local grammar schools have consistently being in the top 10 secondary schools in Southend nationally in the Sunday Times “Good schools guide” The Southeast area has a population of approximately 300,000 with Southend as a large area of deprivation.
