The Estates and Facilities Department provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings, and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1300 people and provide a wide range of services across our UK sites.

An experienced Asbestos Manager with excellent management skills is required to act as the University lead for asbestos management taking responsibility for day-to-day management of asbestos materials in buildings and fixed services across our UK estate. Providing specialist advice to the Estates and Facilities Department and other departments within the University, you will have responsibility for reviewing, maintaining and amending the asbestos management plan, asbestos registers and all other associated documentation to ensure the University is compliant with relevant legislation and codes of practice.

The successful candidate will be required to provide detailed information and reports to senior university management and will take a proactive approach to the management of all asbestos related activity. Responsibilities also include the management of contractors, monitoring and managing performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators ensuring compliance with both contractual obligations and relevant asbestos statutory requirements.

Candidates should be educated to degree level in a relevant subject and have substantial relevant experience in a similar role or have a proven track record of extensive work experience in a similar role. You will also hold the P405 asbestos qualification with the willingness to achieve the CoC (Asbestos) qualification if not already held and will have experience of managing multiple stakeholders using collaboration to achieve the desired outcomes.

This post is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
