Second2None School Support Ltd specialises in providing governance and clerking support for over 200 Schools and Academies in their drive to improve outcomes for children and young people. We are seeking a Governance Clerk/Governance Professional to join our growing team; the position is well suited to an individual looking for a flexible role to suit their personal needs with the post holder taking on as much or as little work as they prefer. We are always keen to welcome new entrants to the profession, however previous minute taking experience is essential and knowledge or experience of School/Academy governance is highly preferable with transferable skills welcomed from other sectors.
The Role
• Supporting and attending board and committee meetings.
• Working effectively with the Chair and Headteacher before each meeting to prepare an agenda led by the Second2None recommended agenda.
• Circulating the agenda, minutes from the previous meeting together with approved papers, all within agreed time scales.
• Preparing accurate minutes of governing board meetings, indicating who is responsible for any agreed actions, recording decisions accurately and objectively with timescales for action and to report/evidence any challenge.
• Advising the governing board on governance legislation and procedural matters.
• Maintaining a record of governor declarations of interest, membership, attendance and training.
The Candidate
• Must be mobile as travelling to Schools will be required.
• Excellent literacy, communication and computer skills.
• Excellent administration skills.
• Knowledge of school governance/education preferred.
• Have the capacity to learn quickly.
• Be highly organised and motivated in order to meet deadlines.
• Committed to undertaking ongoing training relevant to the development of the role.
The Benefits
• Flexible part time, term time only, working hours.
• Home working, however Clerks would be expected to attend board meetings in person.
• Competitive pay ranging from £199 - £220 per meeting depending on clerking qualifications and experience (£19.90 – £27.50 per hour).
