This post is part-time (28 hours per week) and is open ended.

Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme
The post for which you are applying is considered “registered work” in terms of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act. It requires the successful applicant to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to appointment. This check is necessary to ensure that the University of Glasgow fulfils its legal duties under the Act.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Safeguarding Officer to join the University’s Student Services.

The University of Glasgow is committed to the wellbeing and success of its students and to providing effective and flexible support services which aid successful study. As a key member of the Student and Academic Services Directorate you will work within a multidisciplinary team to respond to safeguarding concerns, including but not limited to; mental health crises, reports of concerning behaviour and disclosures of harassment, hate crime, sexual violence, relationship abuse, bullying and other forms of unacceptable behaviour.

Reporting to the Safeguarding Manager, you will work alongside a range of professional colleagues in counselling and advisory roles to manage risk, support the student safeguarding agenda and ensure appropriate practical advice and guidance for vulnerable students. You will work collaboratively to support our students and to assist staff who are responding to presenting or emerging concerns. You will develop and nurture partnerships with external agencies and services, to support students whose needs fall outside the remit of Student Services.
