Summary

We are looking for a friendly and professional Optical Dispensing Assistant / Receptionist to join our dynamic team at Parkhurst Opticians.

Key Responsibilities:
Optical Dispensing Assistance:

Help customers choose the right eyewear, including frames and lenses, based on their prescription and personal preferences.
Provide expert advice on frame fitting, lens types, and aftercare.
Measure and fit eyewear, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality.
Support the optometrist with patient preparation and follow-up appointments.
Help with customer collections of glasses and contact lenses
Spectacle adjustments
Spectacle Repairs

Reception and Customer Service:

Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, welcoming manner.
Handle phone calls, bookings, and appointment scheduling.
Manage patient records accurately and ensure data privacy.
Assist with inventory management, ensuring stock levels are maintained and displays are kept organized.

General Administrative Support:

Process payments, insurance claims, and invoices.
Handle correspondence and assist with any general administrative tasks as required.
Help with social media

Skills and Experience Required:
Previous experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within the optical industry (though training will be provided for the right candidate).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused attitude.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Happy to work alone and be able to self organize

A positive, can-do attitude with a professional and friendly approach to work.
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience with optical dispensing or a recognized optical qualification (training opportunities available).
Familiarity with optical practice management software.

Your main place of work would be between Parkhurst Opticians in Thorne and Bentley, although covering other team members may take you to one of our other branches located in Doncaster, Mexborough or Goldthorpe.

Your annual salary will be calculated at the Living wage for 37.5 hours per week, your hours of work will be 8.45 am to 5.00 pm days per week , and 8.45am to 3pm on Saturdays. Lunch is 30 minutes.
Your salary will be paid on the 25th of every month.

The working rotas are available usually a minimum of 3 weeks in advance and depending on the time or year there may be up to 12 weeks of rotas available.

You will receive 29 days holiday including bank Holidays pro rata.

Your own transport will be required. We pay mileage expenses if you are required to work in a practice where the mileage exceeds your normal place of work.

As this is a Health care /retail role you will be required to wear smart business attire. this does not necessarily mean a suit.

Your employment is dependent on references and we have a 6 month probationary period.
