As a department we offer a yearlong preceptorship programme to ensure that all new members of staff are supported and supervised until all the required competencies are achieved. We also offer a Band 5-6 transition programme upon application and successful appointment. The aim of this preceptorship is to help band 5 radiographers develop their skills and demonstrate their ability to work as a band 6 allowing them to move to the next pay band if successful. At UHS we have a large friendly team of radiographers with wide range of experience working across the following departments: Main X-ray This area provides general, fluoroscopy and mobile radiography for adult in-patients and out-patients. There are 5 DR X-ray rooms, 2 state of the art digital fluoroscopy rooms, and a fleet of DR mobiles. There is also a Xograph DR Dental Imaging room. Emergency X-ray. This area provides adult and paediatric trauma radiography for the Emergency Department and Major Trauma Centre plus emergency and general theatre imaging. There are 3 DR x-ray rooms, DR mobiles and a fleet of up-to-date image intensifiers undertaking a wide variety of complex imaging procedures. Interventional Radiology Our interventional Unit carries out a wide range of complex vascular, non-vascular and oncology procedures in 2 Siemens interventional labs in additional to a Hybrid Lab. The unit is the cancer centre and major vascular hub within the region. Royal South Hants X-ray This satellite unit, near the city centre, provides imaging for adult outpatient clinics and GP referrals and has 4 DR x-ray rooms. What youll do: The successful candidate will rotate through all areas of the department as outlined above. Adopting a patient centred approach; you will be part of the team providing imaging for all patient groups. Ability to participate in the full shift roster which covers the provision of 24 hour diagnostic Radiography services 365 days per year is essential.
