Summary

We are currently recruiting for a School Sports Mentor on behalf of a dynamic school in Manchester.

The school is seeking an active and motivated individual to support a student with challenging behaviour both during whole-class sessions and one-to-one support.

The role will focus on using sports activities to engage the student and enhance their educational experience.

You will work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCo to deliver tailored support programmes aimed at facilitating the learning and development of students.

You will play an integral role in encouraging the student to engage with their education, using sports as a tool for motivation and behaviour management.
- Support students both in-class and one-to-one, under the guidance of teaching staff and senior leadership.
- Assist in the preparation and management of resources for lessons and activities.
- Take responsibility for agreed learning tasks and support individual student progress.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
- Sensitivity and Understanding: Ability to support students with diverse needs.
- Patience and Resilience: Maintain a calm and consistent approach, particularly with students who may display challenging behaviour.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong listening and communication abilities to engage effectively with students and staff.
- Creativity and Versatility: Use sports and other creative approaches to engage students in their learning.
- A positive and proactive mindset with a passion for supporting children's development.
- Experience or a strong interest in working with children in a school or mentoring capacity.
- Ability to quickly build rapport and trust with students to effectively manage behaviour and engagement.
