Summary


The Medical Equipment Library Officer is responsible for the timely delivery and collection of loan medical devices from around the Trust along with the decontamination and checking of equipment prior to re-use.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of 6 staff who provide high quality support to clinical areas via the management and on-demand delivery of over 900 loan medical devices Trust wide with an asset value totalling more than £1.5m.
• 15 hours per week (Thursday & Friday 08:30-17:00)

You will be responsible for carrying out decontamination and equipment function of all equipment returned to library and be confident in the handling of such devices. Also responsible for the prompt delivery and collection of medical devices on loan to wards and theatres.Maintain equipment records and record data necessary for the effective operation of the loan equipment tracking and management systems.

Our staff oversee over 2 million patients ‘contacts’ each year, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:
• Freeman Hospital
• Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
• Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)
• Newcastle Dental Hospital
• Newcastle Fertility Centre
• Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
• Northern Genetics Service
• Cramlington Manor Walks

These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS.
