As a result of a recent service review and the promotion of the previous post-holder to a career pathway route to Environmental Health Officer, there is an excellent opportunity for a Regulatory Services Officer or Food Safety Officer to join our environmental health team. Working in a beautiful part of Scotland, with a wide range of food businesses, you will have a diverse and interesting workload. Operating from the Oban office, you will undertake the full range of environmental health enforcement, including public health and food safety, or if a Food Safety Officer undertake food control in a full range of premises including High Risk and Approved Premises (e.g. smokeries, fish and shellfish processors, distilleries, etc) where appropriately experienced. There will be a requirement to manage your own area workload (which may include travel and work on our islands, including Mull, Tiree & Coll), whilst protecting our residents and visitors' public health and supporting businesses. We will provide you with varied workload in all areas of environmental health/ Food Control, flexible working and hybrid home/office arrangements, a relocation package (where appropriate) and a salary of £35786-£39819. We encourage membership of REHIS, providing ongoing CPD opportunities and payment of REHIS annual subscriptions. We pay annual membership to the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) and have a strong record of continued professional/personal development and career progression. We would be interested to receive applications from authorised food safety enforcement officers holding the Higher Certificate in Food Hygiene/Food Control, the Higher Certificate in Food Practice, or those who are working as an environmental health authorised officer in local authorities. Considering will also be given to those currently studying for the Higher Certificates in Food Practice.
