Summary


Outpatient Clerks required to work in a busy Ophthalmology Department.

The Newcastle Eye Centre is based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and is one of the largest in the UK, treating and caring for well over 100,000 patients each year.

We are a regional centre of excellence treating all types of common eye conditions in adults and children, both elective and emergency, as well as providing a range of highly specialised and cutting-edge services.

The Newcastle Eye Centre also includes an Eye Emergency Department which sees around 20,000 patients per year.

• We are looking for candidates who can deliver an effective and efficient outpatient reception service to both the clinical team and our patients.
• You will need to have experience with IT systems and have good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential for the efficient delivery of administration services.

Our staff oversee over 2 million patients ‘contacts’ each year, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:

• Freeman Hospital

• Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)

• Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site)

• Newcastle Dental Hospital

• Newcastle Fertility Centre

• Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria

• Northern Genetics Service

• Cramlington Manor Walks

These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS.
