We have some exciting opportunities for 2 x Electrical Project Engineers, specialising in Electrical engineering projects on hazardous area installations across the UK. You will be home start. The client owns and operates the National Transmission system (NTS). This consists of 7600km of large diameter high pressure natural gas pipelines, gas terminals, compressor stations and above ground installations (AGI’s).
The primary role is to deliver capital projects to Time, Cost, and Quality within project governance requirements to ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental issues are managed throughout the project.
This role will have end to end accountability for the definition, development, delivery, and closure of investment projects for Gas Transmission, ensuring that delivery of projects which meet all safety, environmental, functional performance, financial performance, and regulatory requirements.
The daily duties will be as follows:
• Lead on design management activities, ensuring the designs are compliant with National Gas technical specifications and are authorised in accordance with the National Gas modification process (‘G/35 process’).
• Complete design ‘stakeholder reviews’ of Contractor’s design submissions to ensure these meet National Gas contract scopes and technical requirements.
• Support development and/or review of electrical designs for temporary electrical supplies.
• Liaise with all members of the project team (including contractors) to complete works in line with the programme.
• Attend factory visits and support the review of associated quality documentation.
• Support with resolution of issues that arise during site activities.
• Undertake safety/technical inspections on site.
• Undertake regular on-site audits to evaluate and assess safety and environmental protection measures implemented throughout the construction and commissioning phases. Inspect quality of design, installation, testing and commissioning and identify defects that need rectification before completion.
• Undertake quality assessment of electrical and instrumentation test records.
• Support with the collation and verification of Operational and Maintenance Manuals of newly installed assets.
• Support with the collation and verification of the DSEAR Explosion Protection Document pack (EPD).
• Review and sign off red-line drawings and operational drawings to ensure accuracy of records of newly installed assets.
• Review and verify Cyber Register and Asset Records.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a collaborative team environment.
• Test and challenge Design, Installation, Test and Maintenance requirements as appropriate and highlight areas for improvement to ensure implementation of robust solution.
The successful candidate will have the following:
• Degree qualified to Bachelor's or Master's level, or HNC level with demonstratable additional industry experience
• Experience with Construction Project Design management and design approval processes.
• Experience of Electrical systems and installations both industrial and commercial, particularly design, installation, inspection and testing, and commissioning activities.
• Experience with the following electrical equipment, including the electrical system design requirements of, and the relevant British and International Standards applicable:
Low Voltage & High Voltage Switchgear
Transformers
Uninterruptible Power Supplies and Battery Chargers
Standby Generators
Lighting Systems inc. emergency lighting
Earthing and Lightning Protection
Motors
Heating Systems
Ex Rated Equipment
• Experience and understanding of the design requirements for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres and COMPEX.
• Understanding and experience of Electrical Safety Legislation.
• Good understanding of and experience with Health & Safety Legislation.
• Experience of successful project delivery and project team working.
• Experience of Project Management and Risk management skills for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost, quality, safety and security of supply.
• Understanding and Experience of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies. Understanding and experience of CDM, Electricity at Work Regulations, Design Management, Safety Management and Environment Management systems
Desirable:
• C&G 2396 – Low Voltage Design, Erection and Verification
• Compex Ex12 – Ex equipment Design, Erection and Verification
• BS 7671 Initial Inspection and Testing Experience / Qualification(s) / Training (e.g. C&G 2391-52)
