Summary
Working collaboratively with investigators and partners, the team will drive up quality and timeliness of investigations to improve outcomes at court. The victim is at the centre of what we do, and we aim to provide the highest possible service to the victims of the cases we process. Every person that works for us, is in some way supporting and serving the community we represent.
Our team are the experts in Case Progression, helping the force provide an outstanding Criminal Justice service. We ensure case files are progressed efficiently with quality as our prime focus. You will take ownership for case files from pre-charge to conclusion through the Criminal Justice process. Providing support and guidance to officers to ensure a quality file, including managing multi-media and liaison with the Crown Prosecution Service.
These positions are shift roles working a range of patterns across a 24/7 operation including nights, relevant shift allowances and enhancements are paid as appropriate.
You will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises at either of the following locations across the force area: Bridgwater Police Centre, TA6 4RR; Patchway Police Centre, BS34 6PY; Keynsham, Police Centre, BS31 1SX; Portishead, Police Headquarters, Valley Road, Portishead, BS20 8QJ; Bridewell Police Station, Bristol, BS1 2AA. Your initial training period will be up to 12 weeks based from an agreed office location.
In this role your main responsibilities will be:
Coordination and administration of cases to ensure quality and compliance using specialist knowledge of legislation and national guidelines, including timescales and court processes.
Working autonomously to research, update and ensure accuracy of data and information in a range of computer systems.
Provide a single point of contact for regular liaison between internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the accurate completion and submission of case files, undertaking any necessary enquiries, responding to queries, and meeting key deadlines/timescales.
Be a subject matter expert on case file preparation and prosecutions and provide advice, guidance and quality assurance to new members of the Criminal Justice team and operational officers and supervisors.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
Have excellent IT skills including the ability to use and update a wide range of computer systems.
Be able to confidently communicate at all levels, both orally and in writing to build relationships with colleagues.
Have the ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
Experience of providing advice and guidance to colleagues and other departments.
Proven attention to detail.
Additional Information:
This role is a 2 year fixed term contract.

Please note that we have recently received confirmation that a 4.75% pay increase for police staff roles has been agreed for 2024/25. From the 1st September 2024 all our pay points will increase by this amount. The salary currently shown on this job advert does not include this increase.
