An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician within the Traffic & Safety Team at Leicestershire County Council, one of the best performing councils in the country.

Our diverse team operates a hybrid working approach partially working from our offices in County Hall, Glenfield and partially working from home. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake site visits and attend in person meetings, when required.

About the Role

As part of this role you will assist in the design and delivery of strategic traffic management and safety related schemes across Leicestershire. This will include the implementation of Traffic Regulation Orders.

You will have experience of liaising with customers using a variety of methods, whilst being able to of investigate, assess, and solve problems whilst communicating outcomes effectively.

A key element will include interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports whilst providing technical advice to a variety of audiences.

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with diverse priorities. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. In return you will get a chance to manage and support exciting and innovative projects that will provide the blueprint for road safety across Leicestershire

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem investigation and assessment skills
  • Good IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of specific highways software such as Confirm.
  • IT in a design office/ business environment including Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
  • Engagement with customers, including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions
  • Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational and needs
