Summary
Fraud is a hidden crime that is increasingly diverse, complicated and often perpetrated remotely. To address this, the government has invested in a Public Sector Fraud Authority (PSFA) which launched in August 2022. The PSFA brings together capability across central government to bring a cohesive and collaborative approach.
The National Fraud Initiative (NFI) team is a remote/virtual team that sits within the PSFA Data and Analytics. Team members are spread across the UK. We are looking for three full time members of staff, but flexibility may be considered. As such we can be flexible about the location of the post holder, but there will be a requirement to be flexible with regard to working hours and with travel as you will be required to attend meetings across the UK, with the majority being in Stoke on Trent, London and Manchester.
Structurally the NFI team is made up of the Operational Delivery (OD) Team and Business Development (BD) Team. These posts are on the Operational Delivery Team, however we do work across both sub teams on occasion. The post holders will contribute to the leadership and the wellbeing and development of the OD Team.
The post holders will be responsible for the following areas of work:
- Supporting the Operational Delivery Lead with the delivery of matches to 1,100 participants, including local government, NHS and central government, private sector (including financial, insurance, utilities and hire car sectors), in a timely manner, through biennial national matching, biannual mortality screening and the annual council tax single person discount exercise.
- Devising and monitoring the strategy that aims to maximise the outcomes (value of fraud and error outcomes) reported by all NFI participants from match releases across the full suite of NFI products to achieve the target of up to £150 million per year.
- Working with the Operational Delivery Lead, plan and manage the work of the team using Smartsheets in order to ensure the key deliverables and targets are met.
- Leading on a complex dataset area including overseeing the strategy to maximise outcomes, the management of associated data matching pilots and improvements to the web application and the promotion of services to existing and new participants.
- Contributing to the security of the NFI through liaison with the CO security team, the IT contractors and the Head of the NFI to ensure that security remains high on the agenda. Ensure that all staff have appropriate security clearances and that the accreditation of the web application is maintained.
- Lead on at least one of three strategic ODT work areas:
