Environment - Nurturing Nature, Sustaining Life

Here at Cranborne Chase National Landscape, we’re looking for an important addition to our small but dedicated team based just outside Tollard Royal, on the Wiltshire-Dorset border. Whilst the legal term remains ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, all AONBs have been known as ‘National Landscapes’ as of 22nd November 2023.

Cranborne Chase National Landscape is a nationally designated landscape and hosted by Wiltshire Council. As Nature Recovery Officer you’ll work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to deliver the Nature Recovery Plan on the ground, guiding its implementation on behalf of the National Landscape Partnership.

You’ll have appropriate qualifications and considerable years of experience in environmental management, nature conservation or ecology/agroecology, have proven experience of delivering action of the ground. Competency in the use of GIS would be a bonus. You’ll also need to be an enthusiastic ‘people person’ who is used to working closely alongside and through farmers, landowners, local communities and other stakeholders. Developing close working relationships and partnerships with relevant organisations will be key to delivering the National Landscape’s Nature Recovery Plan, as will having a keen eye on funding opportunities. Proven experience in preparing funding bids would be preferable. You’ll also represent the National Landscape in, and positively input to, the ongoing development of a major ‘Big Chalk’ initiative in the south of England alongside many other collaborative projects as appropriate.

If you relish a challenge and you are a team player with passion, initiative and self-motivation then we’d love to hear from you.
