Commissioning SAP Engineer

Are you confident in overseeing plant operations to ensure compliance with Operational, Hazard, Environmental, and Chemistry Specifications? Are you skilled at coordinating plant activities while prioritising the safety of both personnel and the plant? Are you experienced in SAP, SAP HV, and other safety rules roles, with the ability to guide others in maintaining these critical standards?

The Opportunity

As our next Commissioning SAP (Senior Authorised Person) Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the plant’s safety, protecting personnel, and coordinating activities with the Plant Handover Lead. You’ll oversee operations, ensuring every task aligns with Operational and Hazard Technical Specifications, Environmental and Chemistry Specifications, and Operating Procedures. With deep expertise in plant systems, you'll step into roles like SAP, SAP HV, and other critical safety functions, supporting safe, compliant operations and maintaining the highest standards in plant safety and efficiency.

What you will be doing…

In this role, you'll ensure that all activities strictly adhere to site license requirements, statutory regulations, and both company and local procedures, fully integrating safety rules into each task. You'll actively monitor and address substandard conditions via the Work Request system, driving continuous improvement. By routinely raising reports and evaluating Operational Experience (OPEX), you’ll foster a culture of organisational learning. Additionally, you'll mentor and train team members in specialised technical areas following a Systematic Approach to Training, while diligently reporting and tracking events that present challenges, supporting a proactive and safe operational environment. Additional responsibilities in this role include:


- Drive the delivery of department business plans, ensuring alignment with the project’s operational and safety goals.
- Safeguard the operational systems by adhering to and advancing the project plan’s safety protocols.
- Mentor, coach, and support the training and authorisation of new team members, fostering a culture of development and readiness.
- Ensure department preparedness to execute the full work scope as per the project plan.
- Demonstrate thorough expertise in both operational systems and the application of safety rules processes.
- Conduct regular reviews of Operating Procedures to ensure they remain effective, raising amendments as needed.
- Proactively address errors, seek assistance when necessary, and take accountability for decisions and actions, contributing to enhanced safety, reliability, and quality.
- Encourage a high standard by welcoming and delivering constructive feedback, maintaining professionalism, and promoting a safe and productive work environment.
- Recognise the contributions and achievements of colleagues, reinforcing a culture where every individual’s role is valued in driving overall success.


Who you are…

To excel in this role, you bring a strategic focus on safety and operational reliability, with a strong grasp of systems and safety rule processes. You’re skilled at guiding teams toward goals, mentoring for growth, and ensuring procedures are up to date. We’re looking for you to be a proactive communicator, encourage constructive challenges, and uphold the highest standards of nuclear professionalism. Additional requirements for this role include:


- HNC (or higher) in an engineering or science-based subject, providing a solid foundation for technical decision-making.
- Proven experience in plant systems to HSG 253 standards, with a clear understanding of safety protocols and best practices.
- Hands-on experience in executing successful large-scale project deliveries, showcasing a track record of effective planning, coordination, and achievement of project goals.
- Educated to GCSE/National Qualifications standards (or equivalent), reinforcing a comprehensive base in essential academic skills and knowledge.
