The College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Science are seeking two Student Support Officer (SSOs). The first role will support students in the Undergraduate Medical School (35 hours per week) who are studying the Medical programme (MBChB), the Intercalated BSc (MedSci), or our two access to Medicine programmes (Gateway to Medical Studies and the Pre-Medical Certificate of Higher Education). The MBChB is a five-year professional programme leading to Provisional Registration with the General Medical Council. This post will be based at the Wolfson Medical School Building on the main UofG campus.
The second role (26.25 hours per week) will support students on our Nursing programme and undergraduate students in the School of Psychology. This role will be based in Oakfield House and the Boyd Orr Building on the main UofG campus.
The College of Social Science is seeking an SSO (35 hours per week - Maternity Leave Cover) to support undergraduate and post graduate students in the School of Education and School of Law, on the main UofG campus. This role will be based in the St Andrews Building and the Stair Building on the main UofG campus.
Led by the University’s Student Support and Wellbeing function and based within one of the 4 Colleges as an integral member of the College student support team, the Student Support Officers (SSO) will help students to be successful learners, by providing first line support, encouraging and helping students to resolve issues and difficulties, and signposting them to sources of information, advice and guidance in relation to their studies, their wellbeing and their future lives and careers.
The post holders will ensure the effective visibility, coordination and seamless delivery of student support and wellbeing provision so that students can access the support they need and when they need it in their local context.
They will share relevant insight and knowledge of the student journey to develop student services across the institution and collaborate with colleagues to promote University wide initiatives, that support our shared values and promote ambition and excellence.
