Summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Senior Midday Supervisor (maternity cover) to lead our small team of Midday Supervisors providing supervision of children during the lunch period, in the dining hall, playground, classrooms and encouraging purposeful play and social activities. The appointed candidate must have experience of working in a primary school, preferably as a Midday Supervisor. Main responsibilities:
To assist the Headteacher in providing supervision on the premises during the midday break.
To encourage children in purposeful play and social skills activities.
To be responsible for the supervision and organisation of a team of Midday Supervisors.
General supervision of children during the lunch period, in the dining hall, playground (and classrooms, in poor weather).
To ensure appropriate standards of behaviour, dealing with lapses in behaviour or breaches of school rules, in line with the School’s Behaviour Policy.
You will need:
To have experience of working in a primary school, preferably as a Midday Supervisor and the ability to relate well to children.
The ability to organise and supervise simple games for groups of children and a willingness to contribute ideas to further develop the play opportunities for them during the lunchtime break.
The ability to be patient and remain calm in challenging situations.
The ability to communicate effectively with children and with other school staff members.
To be aware of, and maintain confidentiality on all school matters.
