Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who feels passionate about the environment and has the skills to engage with residents, businesses, and visitors of the Borough to encourage a safe, clean and green environment by using relevant legislation.
The role of Waste Crime Officer will support waste crime investigations, including dealing with a wide range of environmental crimes such as fly tipping and littering incidents, issuing fixed penalty notices, carrying out checks to ensure businesses deal with their waste correctly and preparing cases for court. You will need to demonstrate attention to detail, perseverance and integrity.
You will work within a successful, innovative, and motivated team dedicated to reducing the amount of waste related crime in the Borough. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner even in potential confrontational situations.

This is a full time position on a permanent contract.
About You:
GCSE grade 6-9 in Mathematics and English (or equivalent) and a working knowledge of environmental legislation including Environmental Protection Act 1990 Sec 33/34.
Ideally, you will have experience of project and case management, with proven ability to maximise opportunities for intelligence gathering and produce intelligence product to support investigations.
Additionally, you will have excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel and a full clean driving licence.
