Summary


Applications are invited for two substantive consultant positions. These are replacement positions and require specialist interest in two or three of the following areas: Medical renal pathology, Gynaecological pathology, uropathology, gastrointestinal pathology and general/pool pathology.





This role is principally based at the Royal Free Hospital with part-time working with the renal pathologists at the Royal London Hospital in East London (for cross-cover purposes). The role consists of native and transplant renal pathology and attendance at the weekly MDT meeting. There is the opportunity to be involved with departmental research. There is provision for urgent/same-day reporting at both sites, but no on-call requirement. Cross-cover is provided by colleagues at the Royal London Hospital.

The Royal Free nephrology department serves the North-Central London sector covered by Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey PCTs, providing comprehensive services in nephrology, transplantation and dialysis. We provide dialysis and chronic kidney care to more than 4000 people and follow-up more than 1400 with kidney transplants. Every year, more than 120 people undergo a kidney transplant in our unit. The department has:

· a national reputation in the management for renal tubular disorders, renal bone disease, nephro-urology and renal transplantation

· specialist clinical interests including vasculitis, dialysis, HIV associated renal disease, nephrotic syndrome, metabolic stone disorders, complex hypertension and renal genetics

· close links with other tertiary referral services within the trust

· expertise in the management of renal amyloidosis, scleroderma, lupus nephritis, hepatorenal syndrome and Fabry disease
• excellent support services with a multidisciplinary team approach
