Do you have a passion for working with children and helping them thrive in their learning? We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team and support students in Years 5-8 across the curriculum, with a focus on assisting English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils in all subjects, ensuring they reach their full potential. Additionally, you will provide specific support for EAL students, helping them to develop both their English language skills and confidence in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students across a variety of subjects, including English and Humanities.
Provide targeted assistance to EAL students to help them improve their English skills (both written and spoken).
Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and classroom activities.
Work with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis to support their learning.
Monitor student progress and offer feedback to teachers on how best to support individual learning needs.
Help create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
Assist with classroom management and student engagement where required.

A genuine interest in education and supporting children in their learning journey.
Previous experience working with children, especially in an educational setting (preferred but not essential).
Willingness to undertake further training in supporting EAL learners.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, especially in supporting EAL learners.
Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to working with students of varying abilities.
The ability to adapt to different subjects and learning needs.
A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude.

Applicants must hold at least an NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) together with prior experience of working with children under the age of 13. It is essential that candidates have excellent numeracy, literacy and ICT skills and understanding of child development and learning processes.
The role is initially on a fixed-term basis until 31 August 2025, working 30 hours per week during term-time only (34 weeks per annum).
