An exciting opportunity has arisen to assist the Orthoptic Department at Moorefield's Eye Hospital, City Road in its activities.

You will be part of the friendly Orthoptic team working alongside consultants, orthoptists, optometrists, nurses and ophthalmic technicians. It is a varied role which requires patient investigations and helping support the smooth running of the service.

Full training will be provided in all aspects of the role and an experience in healthcare would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be required to:

Following training undertake patient assessments including eye sight testing, back of eye photographs and instill eyedrops in preparation for out-patient procedures

Work within a team to ensure high quality patient care

Support and maintain the service stock level

Clinical
• to assist in the delivery of high quality care
• able following training to assess a patient's eyesight and eye pressure
• assist the orthoptic team in preparing patients for an out-patient procedure by instil eyedrops and attaching electrode wires to the patients forehead
• liaise with the clinical teams and clinic coordinators to support smooth running of the service
• maintain accurate electronic patient records

Administrative
• ensure stock levels are maintained
• answer the telephone and provide patient advice as necessary

Continued professional development
• attend staff and trust meetings as required
• actively engage in annual appraisal and training development plan
