Summary


We are currently expanding our clinician assistant team and are recruiting a dynamic individual to work with the gastrointestinal medical team in the position of Clinicians Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to try something different and the successful candidates will learn a lot from the experience. The role requires close working with doctors of all grades including the consultant, ward nursing teams, AHPs teams, departmental staff.

The purpose of the clinician’s assistant role is to provide practical support to the inpatient medical team on the inpatient GI wards. The role is intended to support the Ward, the Medical Team, Departmental managers and of course the patient in the delivery of high standards of patient focused care.

Depending on experience we will ensure the successful candidate receives training for example, blood sampling and EPIC training. The role is likely to include some weekend working.

The Clinicians Assistant :
• Is responsible for the ordering, chasing and communication of results from investigations as requested by the junior and senior medical staff and senior nurses on EPIC.
• Attends daily ward round and ensuring the team job list is up to date for each patient.
• Post holder is responsible for monitoring and updating the jobs list, reporting daily to the physician of the week any outstanding.
• Inform clinical staff of the results of the investigations. Make necessary efforts to obtain these results and inform the clinical staff where delays in obtaining results are likely to occur.
• Assists clinical staff with procedures and the ordering of tests for inpatients
• Undertake, venepuncture and cannulation for patients
• Attend the morning Ward Multidisciplinary Team meeting with ward nurse in charge, physio, OT, pharmacist
