Assistant Farm Manager Required

About ESG Drysdale:
Excellent opportunity to join ESG Drysdale, one of the UK's largest growers and processors of fresh vegetables including brassicas, leeks and swede. The site is based on the east coast of the Scottish Borders near Cockburnspath, with fields throughout the Borders, north Northumberland and East Lothian.

About the job role:
Planning, coordination and supervision of crop growing and harvesting operations.
Hands on leadership, working alongside experienced operators, promoting excellence, attention to detail and safe, efficient work.
Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and our own product intake teams to meet scheduled demand in terms of both crop quality and quantity.
Implement agreed plans and sustainable practices to enhance crop yields while maintaining environmental responsibility.
Support budgeting, record keeping and activity reports.
Monitor and evaluate KPI’s.

The candidate:
Prior experience in large scale farming, preferably in the field vegetable sector.
A degree in agriculture or horticulture.
Analytical mindset, calm under pressure, with the ability to find solutions to problems, not create them.
A self-motivated leader, with great people skills who is passionate about driving teams forward and supporting company growth.
Strong understanding of agricultural practices, crop production and soil management.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment.
Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations in agriculture and how to practically ensure compliance.

Flexibility to work longer hours during peak seasons.
Computer literate.
UK driving license.
