Summary
Guru Nanak Gurdwara (Leicester) is looking to appoint an Amritdhari Gur-Sikh Religious Worker (Kathakar).
Applicant must be practicing Baptist Sikh and be fluent in reading holy Sikh texts to preach and conduct pastoral work and non-pastoral work.
The applicant must be able to perform Katha.
Responsibilities of the post will include:-
• Being proficient at interpreting the holy scriptures in the traditional and modern context and ensuring the interpretation is direct from the Guru’s word or Gurbani.
• Being able to include historical accounts and modern incidents in interpreting the holy scriptures.
• Being able to articulate missionary preachers and be well-versed in Sikh history and religious traditions.
• Helping the Sangat to deepen their knowledge of Sikhi using examples from bani and Sikh history.
Language: The successful applicant must be able to read and write in Punjabi and English (preferably)
Please note: Food, accommodation, and laundry are provided by the Gurdwara under contract terms. The contract will be fixed for 2 years, the monthly salary will be £1,487.20, and worked hours will be 130 hours per month. The post will meet national minimum wage rules.
