Summary

About the role

At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week, you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. We also recognise that life looks a little different for each of us. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome a conversation about flexible working. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

A great opportunity has arisen within our UK Marketing team at Tesco for a Content and Social Media Assistant within our Food Editorial team. You will be supporting the Content and Social Media Manager to help develop and implement food content across all social media platforms and editorial platforms (including the Tesco Magazine and Tesco Real Food online) with a view to increasing presence and engagement. This is a great opportunity to join the team and grow your experience within the area of content creation, customer engagement and social media marketing.

I communicate with customers on a daily basis, delivering \'little helps\' in order to make us the most helpful brand on social media and developing a more personal relationship between Tesco and our customers.

You will be responsible for

  • Taking and managing internal briefs from planning to execution, overseeing the end to end process and bringing our brand tone of voice to life for customers by sharing helpful content, products, deals and information and supporting marketing campaigns by driving conversations and excitement with customers online through our social platforms
  • Engaging with customers in a simple, honest, energetic and human tone on social media platforms and surprise and delighting them with proactive, personalised gifts that strengthen their relationship with Tesco
  • Assessing customer behaviour research, insights & trends, and work with creative and media agencies to build content and marketing plans supporting campaigns and key customer moments.
  • Using social listening tools to identify opportunities to engage with customers, uncover trending topics that Tesco can have a role in and implement reactive, trend-led content that puts Tesco at the forefront of pop culture
  • Assessing media plans and recommendations in line with brief objectives and platform opportunities.
  • Overseeing the production of bespoke content, working closely with our creative partners, from shoots through to fee.
  • Providing ongoing analysis, key insights and recommendations to optimise the performance of social media and streamline ways of working.
  • Generating and nurturing loyalty through creating and engaging with social media interactions through on-going community management and proactively seeking out social opportunities
  • Working with other departments and peers around key campaigns to make sure our messages are consistent across multiple channels and relevant to the wider business.
  • Continuously updating the team on planned activities, results, competitor activity and test & learn opportunities.
  • Schedule and/or deploy social media posts across all platforms: TikTok, Meta, X, YouTube, Pinterest., Snapchat through our CMS system Sprout.

You will need

  • An understanding of content across a range of channels, particularly social media channels
  • An understanding of customer behaviours in the retail industry and how they’ve changed over time
  • A keen awareness of developments and trends within social media
  • A critical eye for reviewing creative content and copy
  • A relevant degree or social media/content experience
