Summary
Activity Plan Manager (Sound and Vision)
Do you have experience managing projects and contributing learning and audience insight to the development of programmes? Do you want to lead the delivery of the activity plan for our new Sound and Vision galleries?
About us
In 2025, the National Science and Media Museum (NSMM) will open a spectacular new gallery across two floors of the museum, Sound and Vision. With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), the galleries will explore the transformative power of Sound and Vision technologies. Alongside the gallery itself, the project has an extensive activity plan, which engages a broad range of people with STEM, heritage and ensures community engagement is central to the project. This is an exciting opportunity to lead delivery of the activity plan for Sound and Vision and contribute to the Science Museum Group's mission to inspire futures.
We are now recruiting for an Activity Plan Manager (Sound and Vision) to join on a fixed-term contract (13 months). This is a part-time role, working 21 hours per week based at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford with hybrid working available.
About the role
As Activity Plan Manager you will oversee the delivery of the activity plan, ensuring it is cohesive and responds to the Sound and Vision project objectives. You will support colleagues across departments to deliver their activities, ensuring they are on time, to budget and adhering to best practice in STEM and community engagement.
A key objective of Sound and Vision is that learning from the project is embedded in the wider work of NSMM to change the museum's practices. As Activity Plan Manager, you will lead on developing a framework for embedding learning, research and approaches from the project.
You will use a 'science capital' informed approach in all your work to encourage people to feel more at home with science and for some to make STEM career choices. This role is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a transformative moment for the museum and influence the future direction for NSMM.
About you
Joining us you will have effective and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to advocate for your work, influence senior stakeholders and build positive relationships with others. You will have experience of managing projects and budgets with the ability to lead and motivate others to ensure activities are delivered to time.
Crucially for this role, you will have successfully contributed learning and audience insight to the development of programmes, and you will be able to listen to a wide range of viewpoints, resolve issues and make decisions in the context of the wider political, economic and social environment of informal learning.
