Summary
We are looking for a motivated, organised and reliable individual to support the Adult Orthopaedics Therapy team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. This team covers in-patient service at RNOH and is involved in assessing patients Tbefore they are admitted for surgery.
· The patient group includes those planned to undergo a wide range of orthopaedic surgery, including joint replacement, upper limb surgery, foot and ankle surgery and spinal surgery. The post-holder will work in a multidisciplinary team, alongside qualified therapists and also hold their own caseload. Candidates will need to have excellent communication, motivational and time management skills.
· To assess and complete appropriate assessment of patients due to be admitted for elective orthopaedic surgery as the 1stpoint of contact within agreed patient pathways.
· To send and receive appropriate therapy screening tools and analyse, identifying when a therapy pre-assessment intervention is required. This could be telephone or face to face assessments.
· To assist therapies in pre-operative patient education and be able to lead pre-operative education sessions such as Fusion Forum.
· To carry own patient caseload and work unsupervised, within scope of own practice, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapist of any problems.
· To support the pre-assessment therapy lead with service development projects.
· To identify barriers to an active lifestyle (for example, associated medical conditions, lack of access to affordable opportunities for physical activity, lack of information or resources) and how these might be addressed.

You must have previous experience of working with people with an injury or disability and an understanding of the role of an Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. To be successful in this role you must be physically fit as the post involves moving and handling of patients and equipment.
